About WealthGuides
Financial education built on primary sources, not recycled opinions.
WealthGuides exists because most personal finance content online repeats the same secondhand advice, dressed up differently. We start from primary sources instead — fund prospectuses, SEC filings, IRS publications, and Federal Reserve data — and explain what they actually say in plain English.
Our mission
Help beginner and intermediate investors understand index fund and ETF investing well enough to make their own informed decisions — without needing a finance degree, and without being sold something in the process.
What we cover, and what we don't
Our focus is deliberately narrow: index funds, ETFs, retirement accounts, and long-term portfolio strategy. We don't cover day trading, cryptocurrency speculation, or "get rich quick" strategies, because the evidence doesn't support most of what's written about them, and it isn't the kind of investing we believe most readers are best served by.
How articles get made
- Research. Every article starts from primary sources: fund prospectuses, SEC EDGAR filings, IRS.gov guidance, and Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED).
- Drafting. Writers translate that research into plain English, with worked examples rather than abstract descriptions.
- Fact-checking. Every statistic and figure is checked against its original source before publication.
- Review. A second editor reads for accuracy, clarity, and whether a genuine beginner could follow it.
- Ongoing updates. Fee, return, and account-limit data is re-checked on at least a quarterly cycle. See our full methodology.
Editorial independence
WealthGuides is supported by display advertising and, for specific brokers or tools, disclosed affiliate partnerships. These relationships never determine which products we cover, how we rank comparisons, or what we say about a fund or broker's drawbacks. Full detail is in our editorial policy.
Who's behind WealthGuides
WealthGuides is produced by a small editorial team rather than a single named "expert" — we think that's a more honest model for a publication our size. Read more on the editorial team page.
Nothing on WealthGuides is personalized investment, tax, or legal advice. See our full disclaimer.
